History is Sweet!

AHC_canister drink pourWhat comes to mind when you think about chocolate? If you’re a chocoholic (like me), just thinking about it makes you happy – and hungry. I’ll take it in almost any of the various forms and flavors that are available today, but for nearly 90% of chocolate’s history, it was consumed primarily as a beverage. In fact, it has been enjoyed as a drink for more than 3500 years.

ahc_product lineTurns out even chocolate has a history! On Friday, December 6th and Saturday, December 7th, chocolate ambassadors from American Heritage Chocolate will be at the CHS to share the mouth watering story of chocolate, from bean to beverage, through demonstrations, discussions, and hands-on activities. What could be better than learning about the history of chocolate? Eating it, of course. Extensive research into chocolate’s history, origins, and uses has enabled American Heritage Chocolate to recreate historically authentic chocolate products for the public, which are now available for purchase at the CHS store. Celebrate chocolate’s important role in American lives during the 18th century; it’s the perfect combination for those of us who are nuts about both chocolate and history!
